Whew, that LBWO yesterday sure did a number on my legs! I’ve got DOMS like woah. Feels so good. Is it just me or is the soreness that comes from a good workout just bliss 🙂

So those deadlifts sure did make my hammies tiiiiiight! Usually when I do a little forward bend I can get my whole palm on the floor without bending my knees but today it was a struggle to even touch my toes! Yikes. My quads and glutes and abs (decline sit ups=my fave) were achy too so needless to say my run was a bit rough this morning. Same 3 mile route as the other day. I felt like I was running in slow motion but I actually finished faster than on Wednesday. My HR was up higher than normal too though because it took so much more energy to get my legs moving.

Oh, and guess what! I have a new best friend: Icy Hot. I tried it for the first time and it was magically warm and lovely for a few minutes and then started burning and sort of hurt me! I don’t really know how I feel about that. Hopefully that means it working!

I really need to take care of my legs this time around. Last winter when he-who-must-not-be-named and I were training for the never to be completed half marathon I was getting pretty bad shin splints but wanted to push through and impress. Well one day we went out for our 7 mile run and I was in agony and he made me stop after about 3 miles. I am a smart girl, really, but 1) I don’t like being told what to do and 2) I don’t like feeling like a failure so I decided to push his advice aside and the next morning I went out and successfully completed the most painful 7 miles of my life. And needless to say I was out of running commission for a good while after that. Bad news bears!

So in conclusion, this time around I am RICEing (Resting, Icing (and Icy-hoting), Can’t remember what the C stands for, Elevating)and making sure I stay stretched out with yoga and strong with strength training. Hopefully that will be a winning combo!
